The Harley-Davidson Museum restaurant, Motor Bar & Restaurant, is finishing up a minor renovation that will allow customers to enjoy Milwaukee’s summer weather even more.
The restaurant, at 401 W. Canal St., is adding garage-door style windows that will open up the restaurant to the motorcycle plaza and the back patio. The change will give the restaurant’s 200 indoor seats a chance to enjoy the weather when it is nice, said Tim McCormick, spokesman for the museum.
The project cost $100,000, according to building permits.
“We noticed that on our bike nights people would spill out into the plaza,” McCormick said. “This gives people a great opportunity for people watching, bike watching, and to take advantage of our beautiful patio.”
McCormick said the renovation is part of a larger effort to raise the profile of Motor as a dining destination in Milwaukee. In the last year the restaurant has revamped its menu, introducing an all-you-can-eat barbecue on Saturday nights.
“Motor is not just for riders, not just for museum visitors,” McCormick said. “It can be a year-round destination.”
